Strategic Planning and Partnership
Strategic Partnership work is important for voluntary and community organisations to ensure their voice is heard, to promote their work and to maximise working links that can aid partnership, commissioning and community development. Ultimately there is a relationship between strategic planning and the services that the users and clients of voluntary organisations receive. Being involved is therefore important although sometimes not easy because of the time it can take up.
Involvement in strategic matters is achieved in a number of ways one of which is through representation and also through a range of other connections, joint work and through informing the agenda of wider partnerships.
'Waves Ahead' In Worthing
Covering Worthing & Adur there is the Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) known as Waves Ahead' which has developed the sustainable community strategy (SCS) for both areas. This is a 'big plan' for both areas covering priorities which include:
- A better place to live work and enjoy
- Better health & wellbeing for all
- Learning training and employment opportunities for all
- Staying and feeling safe

Within this programme of action there are also key 'theme' groups meeting to discuss local priorities including The Better Place Group, the Health & Wellbeing Partnership and the Children & Young People's Forum. WCVS represents the voluntary and community sector on the LSP. We report back to groups on this through this website, face- to -face at Voluntary Sector Forum meetings and in our newsletter. Find out how we do this.

Representation
At a county-wide level there are key partnership bodies or 'boards' that cover a range of topics on which the voluntary and community sector is now represented by people from the sector. Our page on Representation explains more about this.
